Drawing poly

Sir,

With reference to Admiralty letter of the 15th

June 1899, relating to the proposed Extension of the Naval

Yard at Hong Kong, I am commanded by the Lords

Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you, for the

information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies,

that as the construction of the New Dock has been

sanctioned and the works are about to be commenced, My

Lords are prepared to make the following arrangements with

regard to replacing the Murray Pier and the Victoria

Recreation Club; which arrangements it is hoped will meet

the views of the Colonial Government in the matter.

1. The Admiralty to pay the Colonial Government the

sum of $24,000, the amount mentioned in the Governor's

letter of the 16th March 1899, in order that the Colony

may construct a new Pier at some site to the Westward, in

lieu of the existing Murray Pier which would then become

Admiralty property.

2. The Admiralty to re-instate the existing Victoria

Recreation Club on the site marked A on the accompanying

plan, of an area equal to the existing site, and to hand

it over

to the Members of the Club together with the

existing Murray Pier, when the new one is built, for

their boats and as a Landing Stage; the site granted by
